A Victoria’s Secret lingerie store employee was forced to deny hurling acid in her own face to obtain fortune and fame.
21 year old Naomi Oni was charged with setting up the assault and requesting 21 year old friend Mary Konye, to play the stalker and hurl the acid over her.
Miss Oni denied the allegations made by Konye’s OC, on day three of the trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court.The prosecution alleges Konye wore a full niqab before following Oni as she went home from work at Westfield Stratford City, east London.Oni was left disfigured for life after being doused with sulphuric acid by Konye close to her home in Dagenham, Essex.However, the defense said it was part of an intricate plan for her to be rich and famous.
Ms O’Niell said Oni hatched the plot with Konye to pour acid over herself to raise her future prospects.
Miss Oni confessed deleting her online search history on her cell phone the day before police were due to pick it.
Oni replied that she felt violated and did not like the idea of police going through her personal data; that’s why she decided to delete her iPhone history.She also denied throwing the corrosive liquid over her face in order to catapult herself into the world of celebrity.
Oni’s aunt went to the London Evening Standard at the end of January 2013, while Oni was in the hospital, with an email about her niece’s troubles.
